I am a huge fan of stand-up comedy. I watch it every time I get a chance. I watch it so much that I actually started to learn the routines by heart and I am able to recite some of them… Yeah, I know, it’s a little weird. But I love fun, man! I love jokes, I loooove comedy. If there is anything that I wish I was, besides a rock-star, it’s definitely a stand-up comic. But since I don’t have what it takes, I decided to put together a list with some of the stand-up routines I’ve seen over the years and are by far the top in my favorites. Feel free to watch them all, it’s a total time of about 1 hour. This list is really just a start, I will probably come back with more parts. In the mean time, I hope you enjoy this one! All videos are provided by www.youtube.com.
Let’s go!
Jon Stewart
John Stewart is better known for his The Daily Show with Jon Stewart hosted on Comedy Central, for hosting the Oscars twice and for several movies. However, as many funny people, he started by doing stand-up. Here is a clip from a show in Miami in 1996 where he is talking about the war with Iraq and about Canada.
Russel Peters
Russel Peters is a Canadian comic with a great sense of humor and he delivers a very witty kind of comedy. He often talks about languages, races and customs and manages to provide a clean yet extremely funny show. In these two videos he makes fun of the Indian and Canadian accents and he also dwells into the relationship between Indians and Chinese.
Pablo Francisco
Pablo Francisco is one of those gifted stand-up comics that can do voices and impersonations. He has a very lively and diverse show and the audience doesn’t stop laughing throughout the performance. In this video he talks about the movie preview guy and he delivers a brilliant performance:
Frank Caliendo
Frank Caliendo is by far my favorite impersonator. I honestly believe that he can not only sound like anyone, but also look like them. He’s a great performer and below I added 2 videos from his performances on the David Letterman Show during the Impressionists Week.
George Carlin
George Carlin needs no formal introduction. He’s been a face of comedy since the sixties and he never stopped being funny until his last breath. This bit is one of my favorites when he talks about the airlines and their language and announcements.
Louis C.K.
Louis C.K. is a great comedian and a funny actor, writer and director. He’s been doing stand-up for quite sometime now and his humor is often raw and quite direct. In these two short videos he’s talking about his children and other funny topics.
Josh Robert Thompson
Josh Robert Thompson is another voice comic and impersonator. I think he’s doing the best Morgan Freeman I’ve ever seen. In this little bit, he’s presenting his take on Arnold Schwarzeneger, Robert De Niro, Sylvester Stalone and Morgan Freeman.
Dane Cook
Dane Cook is a very modern stand-up comic and a recent favorite of many young viewers. He played in a few movies as well, but he’s better known for his comic routine and his super-up-yours sign. In this video he talks about crying.
Jim Breuer
Jim Breuer is a very loud comedian and he uses his loud voice and his many grimaces to entertain the viewers. He does so really well and his AC/DC routine became quite famous. So, I decided to include it here, for your own viewing pleasure.
So, there you have it! I hope you enjoyed it all and I am waiting for your suggestions about other shows that I would enjoy as well. Before I let you go to bed, I will post a few links to other similar posts where other bloggers collected their favorite stand-up comedy shows:
